I'm not really familiar with how RPG's are suppose to be played so Ill be using Jet's description from "Camp Blood" on how it works. This is a third-person roleplay, meant to be written in a novel like format.
"I'll describe the time, place, conditions, and hint at what you're going to be facing. After I do this I'm going to have you all do adescription of your characters and then I'll open up the game and whenever you interact with each other or with an NPC (non-player character) I control you'll be given a choice between 2-3 options which will decide what happens to your character or characters next. I give a piece of story for anywhere from one to all of you to react to (as well as showing other parts of the story your characters aren't a part of eg an NPC being killed) and based on what you write, I offer you a set of options (kinda like choose your own adventure books back in the 80's) and you make your choice and write what you do, then I write the accompanying reaction and back and forth " -Jet
(let me know if these rules are lame)
1. You can run out of ammo, you don't have an endless amount,so make sure to stop at the local abandoned Army/Navy stores along the way. (Ill let you know when you are getting close to one, and when you need to visit it)
2. You are humans not superheroes, therefore you need to sleep, eat, etc
3. Be good to have more then one character, at some point someone has to die, although you can bring a new character in at each of the three specific locations within the game.
4. Main players start at the beginning point (outside of the town in which the story takes place) the GM starts at the end point, where he will have some surprises waiting for the players who make it to the end location alive
5. Take it serious please, don't be a "space-SHUTTLE" kind of player
6. These are Romero zombies, not 28 days later zombies, so they move slow, but are very dangerous in large groups
7. When bitten by a zombie you have a limited time before you are turned into one, at this point you are not removed from the game play. Instead, you come under the control of the GM, you still move the character but your movements are dictated thereafter. This can happen at any moment and without warning, and the other players will not always be aware that you have been turned until its too late.
8. Players don't start out as bad ass zombie killers, they learn as they travel along.
What I wrote is more of a set up for the action. Though I will post more like it, in order to explain the world that the characters are in and what the location generally looks like, that way the players are free to work within that. So I guess it will sort of be a mix between a third person, and first person RPG.
9. GM sets up the situation and location by posting a detailed "story-like" description, at that point the players will be notified when the view is changed to first person.
10. Characters are making their way to 2 separate locations, one at a time, each in their own turn. ie They gradually make their way to Eagle crest over a series of posts, in the first person perspective.....eg Jeff swings his Axe at Pete, "Die bitch" and kills him, at which point he goes home etc.
11. Players/characters shouldn't get ahead of the game play.
Example: If a player's character is close to a primary location they must come up with something to do - ie kill zombies, sleep, eat etc. At that time the GM will indicate that the next level and/or location has been reached, or completed.
12. Characters (player and non player) meet up in the first location, a town called Eagle Crest, after a brief re-grouping they move on
13. Second location is the abandoned military base, where they meet Robert Jensen, and whatever transpires thereafter.
14. GM will add more detail in the third person "story" perspective to describe the plot/action/situation. All other details are left to the players to invent for themselves.
NEW RULE
I'm missing out on the fun, its actually fun to have someone give you choices on how to react, and so I'm adding another rule.
15. As with the game moderator the other players can also submit options to the GM.
